New Slate of Officers for Sabine River Authority - Texas
(Orange, TX) A new slate of officers was elected for 2011 by the Board of Directors at the annual meeting of the Sabine River Authority of Texas (SRA) recently held in Orange. Don Covington of Orange was elected as Board President. Other elected officers include Vice President Earl Williams of Orange, Secretary/Treasurer David Koonce of Center and Secretary Pro Tem Cliff Todd of Carthage. Other members of the SRA Board include Past President Stan Mathews of Pinehurst, Connie Wade of Longview, J. D. States Work Together to Combat Giant Salvinia on Toledo Bend Reservoir
(Toledo Bend Reservoir) The Toledo Bend Project Joint Operations, comprised of the Sabine River Authority, State of Louisiana and the Sabine River Authority of Texas (the Authorities) continue to work together with State agencies and local citizens to combat Giant Salvinia on Toledo Bend Reservoir. Recent heavy rains have flushed a large accumulation of the vegetation out in the open allowing better access for treatment. On November 7th and 8th over 2,000 acres of the floating vegetation were sprayed with herbicides by helicopter. Another 1,400 acres are scheduled to be sprayed in the next two weeks.SRA Posted 11/12/2009 9:30 AM

SRA-TX Approves Resolution to Halt Generation When Toledo Bend is Low
(Orange, TX) - In a board meeting held yesterday in Marshall, Texas, the Sabine River Authority of Texas’ (SRA-TX) Board of Directors approved a resolution that would authorize Jerry Clark, Executive Vice President and General Manager of SRA-TX to execute a contract amendment that would halt hydroelectric power generation at the Toledo Bend Project when the reservoir drops to 168 feet mean sea level (msl).
